greedy of his prey, and as it were a lion's whelp, lurking in secret places.

13 Up, Lord, disappoint him, and caft him down: deliver my foul from the ungodly, which is a sword of thine : 14 From the men of thy hand, O Lord, from the men, I say, and from the evil world, which have their portion in this life, whose bellies thou fillest with thy hid treasure.

15 They have children at their defire, and leave the rest of their substance for their babes.

16 But as for me, I will behold thy prefence in righteousness; and when I awake up after thy likeness, I shall be fatisfied with it.

PSALM 18.

Will love thee, O Lord, my strength; the Lord is my stony rock, and my defence; my Saviour, my God, and my might, in whom I will trust, my buckler, the horn alfo of my salvation, and my refuge.

2 I will call upon the Lord, which is worthy to be praised: so shall I be safe from mine enemies.

4 The pains of hell came about me: the snares of death overtook me.

5 In my trouble I will call upon the Lord; and complain unto my God.

6 So shall he hear my voice out of his holy temple; and my complaint shall come before him, it shall enter even into his ears.

7 The earth trembled and quaked; the very foundations also of the hills shook, and were removed, because he was wroth.

8 There went a smoke out in his prefence; and a confuming fire out of his mouth, so that coals were kindled at it.

9 He bowed the heavens also, and came down; and it was dark under his feet.

10 He rode upon the Che rubins, and did fly: he came flying upon the wings of the wind.

11 He made darkness his fecret place: his pavilion round about him with dark water, and thick clouds to cover him.

12 At the brightness of his presence his clouds removed hail-stones, and coals of fire.

13 The Lord also thundered out of heaven, and the High3 The forrows of death est gave his thunder, hailcompassed me; and the over-/stones, and coals of fire.

16 He shall fend down from on high to fetch me, and shall take me out of many waters.

17 He shall deliver me from my strongest enemy, and from them which hate me: for they are too mighty for me.

18 They prevented me in the day of my trouble: but the Lord was my upholder.

19 He brought me forth alfo into a place of liberty: he brought me forth, even because he had a favour unto me.

20 The Lord shall reward me after my righteous dealing: according to the cleanness of my hands shall he recompense me.

21 Because I have kept the ways of the Lord; and have not forsaken my God, as the wicked doth.

22 For I have an eye unto all his laws; and will not cast out his commandments from me.

23 I was also uncorrupt before him; and eschewed mine own wickedness.

27 For thou shalt save the people that are in adversity; and shalt bring down the high looks of the proud.

28 Thou also shall light my candle: the Lord my God shall make my darkness to be light.

29 For in thee I shall difcomfit an host of men; and with the help of my God I shall | leap over the wall.

30 The way of God is an undefiled way: the word of the Lord also is tried in the fire; he is the defender of all them that put their trust in him.

31 For who is God, but the Lord? or who hath any strength, except our God?

32 It is God that girdeth me with strength of war, and maketh my way perfect.

33 He maketh my feet like harts feet; and setteth me up on high.

36 Thou shalt make room enough under me for to go, that my footsteps shall not flide,

37 I will follow upon mine enemies, and overtake them; neither will I turn again till I have destroyed them.

38 I will smite them, that they shall not be able to stand; but fall under my feet.

39 Thou hast girded me with strength unto the battel: thou shalt throw down mine enemies under me.

40 Thou hast made mine enemies also to turn their backs upon me; and I shall destroy them that hate me.

41 They shall cry, but there shall be none to help them: yea, even unto the Lord shall they cry, but he shall not hear them.

42 I will beat them as small as the dust before the wind: I will cast them out as the clay in the streets.

43 Thou shalt deliver me from the strivings of the people; and thou shalt make me the head of the heathen.

44 A people whom I have not known shall serve me.

of their prisons.

47 The Lord liveth, and blessed be my strong helper; and praised be the God of my salvation.

48 Even the God the feeth that I be avenged, and subdueth the people unto me.

49 It is he that delivereth me from my cruel enemies, and fetteth me up above mine adversaries: thou shalt rid me from the wicked man.

50 For this cause will I give thanks unto thee, O Lord, among the Gentiles, and fing praises unto thy Name.

51 Great profperity giveth he unto his King, and sheweth loving kindness unto David his anointed, and unto his feed for evermore.

PSALM 19.

THE heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork.

2 One day telleth another; and one night certifieth another.

3 There is neither speech, nor language, but their voices are heard among them.

5 In them hath he fet a tabernacle for the fun, which cometh forth as a bridegroom out of his chamber, and rejoiceth as a giant to run his course.

6 It goeth forth from the uttermoft part of the heaven, and runneth about unto the end of it again; and there is nothing hid from the heat thereof.

7 The law of the Lord is an undefiled law, converting the foul: the testimony of the Lord is fure, and giveth wifdom unto the simple.

8 The statutes of the Lord are right, and rejoice the heart: the commandment of the Lord is pure, and giveth light unto the eyes.

9 The fear of the Lord is clean, and endureth for ever : the judgments of the Lord are true, and righteous altogether. TO More to be desired are they than gold, yea, than much fine gold: sweeter also than hony, and the hony-comb.

11 Moreover, by them is thy servant taught; and in keeping of them there is great reward. 12 Who can tell how oft he offendeth: O cleanse thou me from my secret faults.

13 Keep thy servant also from presumptuous sins, lest theyget the dominion over me: so shall I be undefiled, and innocent from the great offence.

14 Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be alway acceptable in thy fight,

15 O Lord, my strength, and my Redeemer.

PSALM 20.

HE Lord hear thee in the day of trouble: the Name of the God of Jacob defend thee.

2 Send thee help from the sanctuary, and strengthen thee out of Sion.

3 Remember all thy offerings, and accept thy burntfacrifice.

4 Grant thee thy hearts defire, and fulfil all thy mind.

5 We will rejoice in thy salvation, and triumph in the Name of the Lord our God: the Lord perform all thy petitions.

6 Now know I, that the Lord helpeth his Anointed, and will hear him from his holy heaven; even with the wholsome strength of his righthand.

7 Some put their trust in chariots, and some in horses: but we will remember the Name of the Lord our God.

8 They are brought down, and fallen: but we are risen, and stand upright.

9 Save, Lord, and hear us, O King of heaven, when we call upon thee.

PSALM LM 21. HE king shall rejoice in thy strength, O Lord; exceeding glad shall he be of thy salvation.

2 Thou hast given him his hearts defire, and haft not denied him the request of his lips.

3 For thou shalt prevent him with the bleffings of goodness, and shall fet a crown of pure gold upon his head.

4 He asked life of thee, and thou gavest him a long life; even for ever and ever.

5 His honour is great in thy salvation: glory, and great worship shalt thou lay upon him.

6 For thou shalt give him everlasting felicity, and make him glad with the joy of thy

countenance.

7 And why? because the king putteth his truft in the Lord, and in the mercy of the most Highest he shall not miscarry.

8 All thine enemies shall feel thy hand: thy right hand shall find out them that hate thee.

9 Thou shalt make them like a fiery oven in time of thy wrath: the Lord shall destroy them in his displeasure, and the fire shall confume them.

10 Their fruit shalt thou root out of the earth, and

their feed from among the children of men.

II For they intended mifchief against thee, and imagined such a device as they are not able to perform.

12 Therefore shalt thou put them to flight, and the strings of thy bow shalt thou make ready against the face of them.

13 Be thou exalted, Lord, in thine own strength: so will we sing, and praise thy power.

PSALM 22.

Y God, my God, look

foríaken me, and art fo far from my health, and from the words of my complaint?

2 O my God, I cry in the day-time, but thou hearest not, and in the night-season also I take no rest.

3 And thou continuest holy, O thou worship of Ifrael. 4 Our fathers hoped in thee: they trusted in thee, and thou didst deliver them.

5 They called upon thee, and were holpen: they put their truft in thee, and were not confounded.

6 But as for me, I am a worm, and no man; a very scorn of men, and the out-caft of the people.

7 All they that see me, laugh me to scorn: they shoot out
