THE former edition of this Liturgy was published in 1792; and the present has been delayed by the editor for reasons which, he trusts, have enabled him to render it more deserving of approbation and acceptance. It has been the chief intention of his endeavours, to form the ordinary and occasional services of public worship, upon the broad and general principles of our common christianity. Obsolete words and redundant expressions have been corrected; offensive and needless repetitions, have been, without distinction, expunged. All doctrinal opinions which have been superadded to the plain and simple statements, that "there "is one GOD, and one mediator between GOD "and men, the man Christ Jesus ;" and that "Jesus is the Christ," have been studiously avoided.
